This nascent talent was nurtured after his military service with formal training at the École des Beaux-Arts under Adolphe Yvon, while simultaneously supporting himself through employment as a department store salesman in Paris. His marriage to Fernande Sevry in 1886 marked not only a personal commitment but also a shared pursuit of artistic expression; Fernande herself worked as a seamstress and later contributed to the family’s endeavors.
