Despite facing hardships early in life—characterized by poverty—Shanshou possessed an unwavering passion for calligraphy and painting, nurturing his talent under the mentorship of renowned calligraphers Zheng Xie and
Yun Shouping. These formative influences instilled in him a profound appreciation for traditional Chinese aesthetics and techniques, shaping his distinctive artistic vision.
