A Life Rooted in the Belgian Landscape The story of Cornelis Van Leemputten begins in the quiet village of Werchter, Belgium, where he was born into a family deeply connected to both the land and the arts. As the son of Jan Frans Van Leemputten and Elisabeth Hopland, his early years were shaped by a unique domestic environment; while his father was originally a farmer, a transition to Brussels in 1852 saw him become a painting restorer
