clough's artwork has been exhibited in over 70 solo and 150 group exhibitions across north america and europe, featured in the permanent collections of over 70 museums, including the metropolitan museum of art, national gallery of art, and smithsonian american art museum. his style is characterized by a blend of old master looks, abstract expressionism, and shiny smoothness, as seen in his works like the arrow, the composites, and flung, stroked, squeegeed, and ground.
throughout his career, clough has received fellowships and grants from the new york state council on the arts, national endowment for the arts, adolph and esther gottlieb foundation, pollock-krasner foundation, and john simon guggenheim foundation.
