His stylistic evolution is marked by distinct periods, such as the Plum Nellie San Romano works of the 1980s. In the 1990s, his Tree For Mine series explored the people and places of his childhood in Charlottesville, Virginia, while his Galactic Journal of the 2000s served as a highly autobiographical exploration of his life's paths.
Academic Legacy and Recognition
Beyond his studio practice, Reed was a significant educator, serving as an assistant professor at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and later at Skidmore College. During his tenure at the Yale School of Art, he served as the director of the Yale Summer School of Art from 1970 to 1975.
