      Crewdson’s photographs are the result of elaborately constructed scenes that rework small-town America into something inexplicable; here, Lee, Massachusetts. Each image is a single-frame narrative that presents the paranormal, the ordinary, and the sensual. This photograph is one of forty that form his Twilight series. Mimicking grand, narrative oil on canvas paintings, Crewdson truly blurs reality and the imaginary. With an extensive crew manipulating and staging every minute detail, he creates a fictional narrative that fosters feelings of the uncanny.
