Early Life and Artistic Training John Elwyn, born William John Davies in Adpar, Newcastle Emlyn, South Cardiganshire, on November 20, 1916, was steeped in the traditions of a rural Welsh landscape from his earliest years. His childhood unfolded amidst the rolling hills and close-knit communities of West Wales, experiences that would profoundly shape his artistic vision for decades to come.
