The Life and Journey of Franz Caucig

His early talent was recognized by Count Guido von Cobenzl, who facilitated his education by sending him to the son of Philipp, an influential figure at the Austrian court. His travels continued through Mantua, where he copied the works of Giulio Romano and reliefs on ancient sarcophagi, and Venice, where he was named a member of the committee of the Accademia di Belle Arti in 1796. Eventually returning to Vienna, he served as a professor of drawing at the Vienna Academy and later held the position of director of the Painting and Sculpture Class.
