Early Life and Artistic Beginnings Eugène Louis Boudin, born in July 12th, 1824 in Honfleur, France, possessed a destiny inextricably linked to the sea. His father, a harbor pilot, instilled within him an early appreciation for the ever-changing moods and captivating beauty of the maritime world. This formative influence would become the cornerstone of Boudin’s artistic vision.
