Despite personal changes – a divorce followed by remarriage to sculptor Giuditta Scalini in 1939 – Campigli continued to explore his signature themes, dividing his time between Rome, Paris, and Saint-Tropez after World War II. His later works saw him experimenting with increasingly abstract compositions, culminating in canvases marked by bold colored markings during the 1960s.
