The Sewing Machine

1943 · Metal · Izraelské muzeum, Jeruzalém

There is a profound sense of the uncanny in this object, a feeling that the metal holds more than just its own physical weight. The way the figure is eroded makes the subject matter feel elusive, as if the person depicted is slowly being reclaimed by the material itself. The monochromatic palette of bronze and gold creates a somber, heavy atmosphere. It feels like a fragment of a larger, lost…

Oscar Dominguez: Život v surrealismu

Raný život a umělecké počátky

Umělecká evoluce a vlivy

V roce 1933 došlo k zásadnímu zlomku, když se Domínguez setkal s André Bretonem, předním teoretikem surrealismu, a s poetou Paulem Éluardem.

Významná díla a umělecký styl

Osobní život a tragický konec

Odkaz a historický význam
