early life and education jefto perić, a renowned serbian painter, was born on december 26, 1895, in gacko, bosnia and hercegovina, then part of the ottoman empire. he later became a professor at the academy of arts (later to become university of arts in belgrade). perić's artistic journey began with his work as a photographer's assistant in the studio of mihailo merćep in zagreb. artistic development and style perić's inclination toward
