Jean Bero's painting "An Evening (Une soirée)" of 1878 was in the collection of Jacques Kulp in 1936 (Balny d'Avricourt collection), then in Public sale, New York, Sotheby's, May 23, 1990, No. 73 (withdrawn from sale and repatriated to France). In 1994, the painting was accepted by the National Museums as a free transfer from the General Administration of Customs and Indirect Duties (March 7, 1991 and May 5, 1993). On June 23, 1994, the painting was arrested, and then attributed to the Musée d'Orsay, Paris. The original painting is made with oil on canvas and has dimensions: height - 65.0 cm, width - 117.0 cm, with frames: height - 100 cm, width - 151.3 cm.
